Why Manchester City’s signing of Josko Gvardiol is taking so long to complete - timelineoffuture

As some Manchester City fans are frustrated that Josko Gvardiol’s transfer is still ongoing, a new report explains why.

The Premier League champions reportedly agreed a personal deal with the 21-year-old FIFA World Cup star at the end of June but have not been able to agree on a transfer fee since then, at least as far as the public is concerned.

Manchester City will resume pre-season training on Monday, and the trip from the Far East to Asia is scheduled for next Wednesday. The only new signing is ex-Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic, who will call off Ilkay Gundogan’s departure.

However, there is growing concern among some fans that the ongoing sell-off of first-team options could mean a lack of personnel changes in time for the start of the new season when City take on Arsenal in the FA Community Shield in early August.

A new report has now clarified why the priority search for Josko Gvardiola is taking so long, as Manchester City appear to be waiting for their current employers to agree on a replacement.

This is based on information from Christian Falk, who writes in his column for CaughtOffside that RB Leipzig’s continued pursuit of Lyon centre-back Castello Lukeb is the reason the situation in the Josko Gvardiola case has calmed down.

After Leipzig’s original €26m offer for Lukeba was rejected by the French club, who wanted a basic transfer fee of €30m, a possible confirmed sale of Gvardiol to Manchester City could pose problems in the negotiations.

Falk reports that RB Leipzig knows that if they get a €100m package for the Croatian defender other clubs will say: ‘Hey, you have €100m so you can spend a little more on the player .

” Elsewhere and Manchester City are continuing to work on finding a solution to the situation surrounding Kyle Walker, who is increasingly interested in a move to Bayern Munich in the coming weeks, provided the two clubs agree on a transfer fee.

Walker is lured by the possibility of a new challenge away from England, while Manchester City are hoping the England international will change his mind and sign a new contract at the Etihad Stadium in the coming days.

When the 33-year-old leaves City after six years, club authorities will prioritize an offer for Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard, who is regarded as the best centre-back and right-back.
