Tottenham could end Harry Maguire`s Manchester United misery – and keep Harry Kane happy at the same time.

The England defender started just eight times in the Premier League in the season just completed and has been told he isnt in the Erik ten Hags plans, especially with the club looking to sign at least one new centre-back this summer.

Moving Maguire on may not be straightforward as he still has two years left on his contract while his wages could present an issue too, meaning United may have to cough up to get the former Leicester man off their books.

A number of clubs are interested in Maguire though, and they reportedly include Spurs, who are starting a new era following the appointment of Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

The Telegraph says Tottenhams interest in the player is not related to Uniteds desire to sign Kane, who is entering the final year of his contract and could finally leave this summer.

Rather than being part of a mutual transfer, Maguire’s arrival may actually help convince Kane to stay for at least another year. The two are good friends who have developed a close bond in England and Kane is said to have recommended Maguire to Spurs on several occasions.

North London clubs have been linked with Maguire in the past, with manager Mauricio Pochettino wanting to sign him while he was at Hull City. Maguire instead moved to Leicester before joining United for £80m in 2019.

Maguire is one of up to 12 players who could be sacked by United this summer, and David De Gea’s future remains uncertain.

The Spurs are also planning a sale, and some of the host team players could change, including Eric Dier and Ben Davis.
