The Incredible Human Odyssey: An Ape Turned Into A Man In A Million Years (Video) - timelineoffuture

This fascinating film traces the evolution from ape to human, beginning with the proconsul, a fruit-eating creature that lived in African trees some 20 million years ago.

As the African jungle has thinned due to climate change, these tree dwellers have been forced to abandon their arboreal habitats and adapt to life on land. The descendants of the proconsul Ardipithecus began to walk on their hind legs, taking the first steps toward bipedalism. As the climate continued to change and Africa became the savannah, new creatures appeared, such as graceful australopithecines that walked on two legs much like modern humans. The evolution of these creatures continued with the appearance of the first human, Homo habilis, who became the first to make stone tools, marking a milestone in human history.

The path of human evolution continued with the arrival of Homo ergaster, who became skilled hunters with their spears and stone tools. Their intelligence allowed them to dominate the African savannah, and eventually they began to spread beyond the continent, conquering large parts of the planet. Man has faced many challenges in the course of his evolution, and it is these difficulties that have favored the development of reason. Homo heidelbergensis, the first prehistoric human with brain sizes similar to ours, built shelters, buried their dead and created the first works of art. The film ends by pointing out that reason has made people responsible for their own future and it is now up to us to decide.
