Sergio Aguero record which lasted 21 years shattered by 14-year-old in Argentina

A 14-year-old has shattered a record Sergio Aguero held in Argentina for over two decades.

Sergio Aguero is one of the greatest strikers to ever play in the Premier League, so it’s fitting that he scored the most famous goal in the competition’s history.

Aguero’s iconic strike against Queens Park Rangers clinched the first of five Premier League titles he won with Manchester City, and was undoubtedly the most important of the 260 goals he scored for the club.

He also broke plenty of records during his 10-year spell in England, including the most goals scored by an overseas player in the Premier League (184) and the most Premier League hat-tricks (12).

But before he moved to Europe in 2006 to join Atletico Madrid, Aguero set a different kind of record.

When Aguero became the youngster player to appear in professional football in Argentina when he made his debut for Independiente on July 5, 2003, at the age of 15 years and 33 days.

The record stood for almost 21 years, but this week it was broken by over 12 months.

On Thursday, Mateo Apolonio made his debut for Deportivo Riestra at the age of 14 years and 29 days, shattering Aguero’s record.
