Former Manchester United striker and current Feyenoord Under-18 boss Robin van Persie is one of the names being considered by Heerenveen as they search for a new head coach.

Robin van Persie is in the running to become the new head coach of Eredivisie strugglers Heerenveen, it has emerged.
The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker, 40, hung up his boots five years ago at the end of the 2018/19 season after returning to the Netherlands to join Feyenoord. He then transitioned into a coaching role with the Dutch giants, where he currently works with their Under-18 team.
Van Persie has aspirations of managing at an elite level and is currently undertaking his UEFA Pro License. However, an opportunity to take his first senior management role could present itself sooner rather than later, as revealed by Dutch outlet AD.
A new report has outlined that Heerenveen have identified Van Persie as a ‘serious candidate’ to become their new head coach at the end of the season with Kees van Wonderen, Heerenveen’s current boss, set to depart in the coming weeks.
