Pundit tells Manchester United to replace Erik ten Hag with ‘someone like Jurgen Klopp’ - timelineoffuture

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has advised Manchester United to replace manager Erik ten Hag with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Dutch manager joined United from Ajax ahead of the 2022/23 season. United finished third in his first season under Ten Hag. Only Manchester City and Arsenal are 1st and 2nd respectively above the Red Devils.

Speaking to the Daily Mail (h/t Mirror), Jordan said:

“Is Ten Hag the best in class? I would argue no. I certainly can’t see him ending the club’s title drought. What United really needs is someone like Jurgen Klopp, someone capable of embracing it all, shouldering the huge responsibility of managing such a massive club and delivering success. Someone who can harness the spirit and energy of the club from previous glories and set standards and outcomes reminiscent of yesteryears. Does that sound like Ten Hag? I don’t think so.”

The Red Devils have changed many managers since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. World-class managers like Jose Mourinho have not achieved the success needed to land a job at the club.

Being a manager at United comes with high expectations and constant achievement. However, the club has faced difficult times to meet those expectations.

It remains to be seen how the season will play out, but many United fans will agree that it is too early to question the manager. United will be looking to pick up more than the 75 points they got last season in the Premier League.

The Dutchman will look to rejuvenate United’s squad after the international break. Ten Hag brought the Red Devils back to the Champions League. He deserves more time to restore the club to its former glory.

Not to mention signing Jurgen Klopp is almost impossible. The German coach seems interested in Liverpool and has led them for almost 8 years now.

Perhaps the aforementioned meant Ten Hag should be replaced by someone like Klopp, rather than literally Klopp himself. That would make more sense because the former Borussia Dortmund manager has already rejected the chance to manage us in the past.

And in that case, Ten Hag is here for just a year. It is unfair to say that he isn’t shouldering the responsibility for success in the long run.
