Manchester United conclude pre-season 2024 against bitter rival Liverpool on Sunday morning, here’s how Erik ten Hag’s XI could look.

It has been a mixed pre-season for Manchester United, with some good and some bad – although performance-wise, we have had mostly positive reviews.

Andre Onana

While Tom Heaton was given minutes last time out, ultimately he showed he is not in a position to be playing anymore and Andre Onana will therefore be back in here for the final warm-up before the Community Shield.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

This could be the final time we see Aaron Wan-Bissaka in Manchester United colours, with his move to West Ham moving closer and closer. If he is not playing due to the deal being so close, it could be James Scanlon thrown into the side as he has been the backup right-back on tour.

Victor Lindelof

In the centre of defence, Victor Lindelof likely gets the nod to start in place of the injured Leny Yoro. It is unlikely he will start the Community Shield next weekend with Lisandro Martinez set to return.

Harry Maguire

The second centre-back will likely be Harry Maguire who looks set to play a pivotal role at least early this season, with a second centre-back signing yet to have arrived.

Harry Amass

At just 17, Harry Amass is a blossoming star and this summer has proven he is more than ready to play a role for United during this coming campaign. We are intrigued to see how he handles the substantial challenge which is Mohamed Salah.

Casemiro

Casemiro had a really encouraging display against Real Betis, rolling back the years and will have given United some confidence that he can play a role this season, with a sale looking unlikely.

Toby Collyer

Against Real Betis, Toby Collyer missed out to Scott McTominay but as a sale of the Scotland international looks likely and with next weekend in mind, Collyer must start here and we think he will.

Amad Diallo

On the right, Amad Diallo has made himself pretty undroppable after his two goals in the past three games. We imagine he is the first name on the teamsheet right now and he will also probably starts the Community Shield next weekend.

Mason Mount

After being replaced against Betis, we think Mason Mount will return to the starting line-up against Liverpool. He has had a solid pre-season, and another strong outing here could convince Ten Hag to start him in the Community Shield.

Jadon Sancho

With Marcus Rashford carrying a knock, we imagine he will not be risked here which will give Jadon Sancho another chance to impress and stake his claim for minutes this coming season.

Ethan Wheatley

Up top, Rasmus Hojlund faces six weeks on the sideline – while Joshua Zirkzee is working at Carrington – so Ethan Wheatley seems the logical choice ahead of what we imagine will be a loan for the upcoming season.
