Predicted Man United XI vs FC Copenhagen: Sergio Reguilon and Alejandro Garnacho to start - timelineoffuture
September 25, 2024

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could get a chance to compete for a place when he selects his starting line-up for tomorrow’s crucial Champions League match against FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford.

United are bottom of the table with zero points after losing to Bayern Munich in Germany and Galatasaray in Manchester last time out.

3 points less than the Danish team will almost certainly result in elimination from the competition in the group stage.

Andre Onana will hope to build on his strong performance against Sheffield United on Saturday while retaining his place in goal.

Harry Maguire was voted man of the match and with Sergio Reguilon expected to return to left-back, Ten Hag will also have Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane vying for the centre-back position.Jonny Evans could also be involved, although he may have suffered a hamstring injury on Saturday and was replaced by Varane late on.

Despite Maguire’s progress, we expect Ten Hag to keep faith in Varane and Lindelof, with Diogo Dalot occupying the right-back position.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez are all absent through injury.

In midfield, Casemiro will definitely be absent because he is suspended for one match for being sent off in the match against Gala. Donny van de Beek was not registered to participate in the competition, so he will definitely be absent.

Kobbie Mainoo is pushing for a return to action after injury lay-off, but is unlikely to start. That leaves Sofyan Amrabat, Scott McTominay, Mason Mount, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes with options.

United looked much more balanced against the Blades in Eriksen’s debut and we think he could start alongside Amrabat and Fernandes.

Up front, Antony was disappointing this weekend and Alejandro Garnacho looked sharp off the bench. Placing Marcus Rashford on the right wing once again will help the Argentine start the game, giving the Brazilian a rest.Rasmus Hojlund is expected to lead the attack once again with Anthony Martial possibly coming off the bench.

Jadon Sancho remains unavailable due to disciplinary reasons.

With all that in mind, here is our predicted XI for tomorrow’s game:
