Predicted Man United XI vs Brighton and Hove Albion: Sofyan Amrabat to start - timelineoffuture
September 27, 2024

Erik ten Hag will be breathing a sigh of relief that none of his Manchester United stars appear to be injured during the international break.

However, one player has been added to the list of unavailable players for the Premier League home game against Brighton: Antony, who has been told by the club not to return to training until he clears his name allegations of domestic violence.

With Jadon Sancho having had a public row with Ten Hag and reports that he will be sold shortly, this leaves a problem on the right wing.

Many fans have asked for Facundo Pellistri to start but we believe Ten Hag will start Marcus Rashford on the right wing and start Alejandro Garnacho on the left wing.

Garnacho has started a few games there this season and has been unimpressive, but his substitute appearances have been explosive.

It’s all part of the learning process and it’s likely that the young Argentine coach will give the young Argentinian another chance to play 90 minutes, sacrificing Rashford in position instead of starting with Pellistri even less experience.

There will be calls to play Rasmus Hojlund at the top but it seems more likely that Anthony Martial will be available from the start, with the Dane brought on in the second half. Martial’s form is poor but Ten Hag may think he needs a chance to find his rhythm, while Hojlund needs to make his debut gradually.

There are some interesting options for midfield coaches at the moment.Sofyan Amrabat is available for the first time, Mason Mount is back in form – although he probably won’t make it in time for this game, Scott McTominay did no harm with an excellent performance for Scotland this week and Christian Eriksen, who has also performed well for his country, sitting on the bench.

Eriksen is the logical choice as he is physically fit, but we have a sneaking suspicion that Amrabat could be straight on even though he has barely touched a ball since the season before.

Ten Hag did the same with Antony when he was signed and he may see Amrabat as the type of player who can hit the ground running.

Bruno Fernandes will, of course, play in the number 10 role.

In defence, no changes are expected. Raphael Varane is unlikely to be fit so Victor Lindelof should play alongside Lisandro Martinez. Both were subbed against Arsenal but both have proven themselves fit on international duty.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will keep the right back position and Diogo Dalot will probably play left back again although loanee Sergio Reguilon is an option.

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain unavailable.

With Andre Onana in goal, then, here is our predicted line-up for Saturday’s 3pm kick off:
