How Pep Guardiola’s ideal Manchester City squad could look like after the transfer window. Manchester City have already suffered major setbacks in the summer transfer window and their aim for the rest of the summer will be to avoid further suffering.

The loss of Ilkay Gundogan could be devastating. City are used to saying goodbye to legends and have always done so when some questioned that they were missing a particular position, but Pep Guardiola has not lost a player like the last captain.

With David Silva, Sergio Agüero and Vincent Compagny all on the decline, it was time for the next step, but Gundogan was still playing the best football of his career. contributed to the achievement of the triple crown. He signed Mateo Kovacic, but I don’t know if he can fill the void.

City don’t consider the Croatian a direct replacement and have proven they still need another midfielder after choosing Declan Rice before the price is set. With Jude Bellingham joining the squad, there aren’t many obvious additions to City’s midfield.

Rumors of Celta Vigo’s exciting star Gabri Veiga have surfaced and the 21-year-old appears to be Guardiola’s favorite midfielder, despite being more attacking than Gundogan. Otherwise, Gundogan’s role will likely be split between Kovacic, Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez.

Now, City need to make sure they don’t lose another key player, the most obvious being Bernardo Silva. The playmaker has been eager to return to mainland Europe for the past three years to get closer to home, but has yet to find a suitable offer for his career. This will never happen, as Paris Saint-Germain are just as closely linked to the Saudi Arabian club as they are, despite being a little further away from Lisbon this summer.

Guardiola’s dream team will always have Bernardo Silva and I hope he stays. A player like him excels in so many different roles that it’s nearly impossible to replace him, but if he leaves, he’ll need to bring in a new winger. The same goes for Riyad Mahrez, who has also been rumored for a move.

But City’s top priority at the moment is defense. Aymeric Laporte and Joao Cancelo are likely to leave the club, frustrated with their lack of minutes last season. The latter joined Bayern Munich on loan in January after his relationship with the Blues manager abruptly fell apart.

Guardiola is starting to favor a defense that consists entirely of centre-backs. So it’s no wonder City want to add Josko Gvardiol to their list. The Croatian colossus is City’s top target, but RB Leipzig want £85m plus additional performance-related fees. Despite ongoing consultations, the city is not yet ready to meet this assessment, but all parties are confident an agreement can be reached.

Ideal City squad for next season:

Goalkeepers: Ederson, Ortega, Carson

Defenders: Stones, Dias, Gvardiol, Ake, Akanji, Walker, Lewis, Gomez

Midfielders: De Bruyne, Rodri, Phillips, Kovacic, Bernardo, Veiga, McAtee, Perrone

Forwards: Haaland, Foden, Alvarez, Grealish, Mahrez, Palmer
