The Belgium international made his third startfor Manchester City on Saturday, as Pep Guardiola’s side beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium to maintain their winning start to the Premier League season.

Manchester City took an early lead through goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, but Rodri’s red card for violent conduct after a challenge with Morgan Gibbs-White forced the Sky Blues to defend bravely in the second half.

Summer signings Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku returned to the starting line-up for Saturday’swin, having scored on theirdebuts at the London Stadium last weekend.

Doku equalized for Manchester City against West Ham and impressed again on Saturday, playing a key role in the Blues’ opening goal.

Pep Guardiola welcomed the 21-year-old’s debut at the Etihad Stadium, after joining from Stade Rennais for £55.5m in August.

Manchester City manager applauds the new aspects that the striker’s arrival brought and paid tribute to former star Leroy Sané.

“At 10 v 11, Jérémie [Doku] doesn’t have the same rhythm as Leroy [Sane] on the 40 meter, long rhythm.

“He is a very good player, intelligent in his decision making in the final third, which I did not expect.I expected incredible speed, incredible one-on-one action. But then you have to be calm, you have to make a decision in the last third of the match.

Leroy Sané made 135 appearances for Manchester City between 2016 and 2020, scoring 39 goals and helping the Blues win 7 titles, including 2 Premier League titles.

The German winger joined Bayern Munich for £54.8m and scored against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
