Brazil international Ederson is understood to be keen on a new money-spinning challenge in Saudi Arabia and to leave Manchester City, and while Pep Guardiola was stern that Kevin de Bruyne would be going nowhere, he’s taken a different stance

Pep Guardiola has admitted Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson could leave this summer.

Ederson has spent seven seasons with the Premier League champions since arriving from Benfica, enjoying a trophy-laden spell since replacing Claudio Bravo between the sticks. But he has been linked with a hugely lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League in recent months.

De Bruyne has been exploring his options, having held talks with new MLS franchise San Diego FC, as well as preliminary discussions over a move to Saudi Arabia. He was open about his thoughts in an interview with Belgian newspaper HLN in June.

“At my age you have to be open to everything,” he said. “You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career.

But speaking to reporters ahead of City’s opening pre-season game, Guardiola simply stated: “Kevin isn’t leaving.”

The Belgium international has played for City since 2015, winning six Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups and two FA Cups and Guardiola believes there will be more to come.
