Marcus Rashford also went off injured against Betis. Here are how the players rated in San Diego:

Tom Heaton

At fault for the goal when he parried the first shot and scooped the rebound back into harm’s way. Well beaten for the second goal. 5

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Barely cropped up in the final third and got caught out a couple of times by some long balls but largely untroubled. 6

Harry Maguire

Had little defending to do amid United’s dominance and came through his second start of pre-season unscathed. 6

Victor Lindelof

A sedate return to the side for the Swede, who missed the first three friendlies of pre-season. Had plenty of time on the ball. 6

Harry Amass

Followed up that invaluable half against Arsenal with a better performance against Betis. His cross led to Amad’s goal. 8

Casemiro

A game at his tempo. Played some piercing passes and turned in Marcus Rashford’s cut-back to put United 3-1 up. 8

Christian Eriksen

Like Casemiro, he revelled in the sedate pace of the game and this was the first time Eriksen had controlled a match for United in nearly a year. 7

Amad

The man of the hour again. Involved in three good openings inside the first ten minutes, won a penalty and scored superbly. 8

Scott McTominay

Unfortunate not to get an early free-kick, his fitness levels were predictably profound on his first start in pre-season. 7

Jadon Sancho

Applied himself professionally as the false nine and linked up nicely a few times. Had a goal disallowed early on. 7

Marcus Rashford

A sharp performance marked with a goal from the penalty spot. Rashford benefited from staying on the left in a strikerless side. Went off injured. 7

Subs

Will Fish

Better than against Arsenal. 6

Jonny Evans

A good workout. 6

Sam Murray

Did little wrong. 6

James Scanlon

Steadier than against Arsenal. 6

Toby Collyer

Vital header in added time inside his own area. 7

Maxi Oyedele

Eager. 6

Hannibal Mejbri

Did little on the ball. 6

Antony

Struggled and a struggle to watch. Came off 23 minutes after coming on. 4

Mason Mount

Had a good chance blocked. 6

Ethan Wheatley

Had little of the ball. 6

Sam Mather

Came on late on. N/A
