Manchester United have warned that action will be taken against those who prevent players from doing their duty in peace.

Manchester United released a statement in response to video circulating online showing Mason Mount being forced to sign autographs.

Video originally uploaded to TikTok shows Mount being harassed by a group of people who want him to sign United shirts. Mount, who completed his £60m move to Old Trafford last week, has politely asked those following him to unfollow him.

Mount was overheard and asked why they “keep coming back”; to try to get him to sign the memoir, saying he hadn’t signed it “in the last three days.”

In response to the video, which went viral, United released a statement confirming that the situation in question had become all too public. They also warned that action would be taken if similar problems persisted.

A club source said: “Unfortunately, such a situation has become all too common. It’s the last thing Mason deserves after befriending everyone he’s met since joining United.”

“Professional autograph hunters regularly urge United players to sign large amounts of items they then resell for hundreds of pounds. It’s commonplace in Carrington and has become a serious problem.

“These organized groups block players’ cars and harass them when entering or leaving their place of work. It’s getting really dangerous and you have to worry that it’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt.

“It also means that young fans who just want to interact with their characters are often absent because players can’t stop taking photos with them without having to engage in groups. For everyone else, it’s a real frustration that security personnel are regularly discussing with players how to fix the issue.

“If this continues, measures will certainly be taken.”
