Manchester City turned down the chance to sign Joao Felix twice during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old, who spent several months at Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid during the 2022/23 season, joined Barcelona on a season-long loan last month.

Félix completed a move to Catalonia on Deadline alongside Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, where the Portugal international was directly involved in six goals in eight appearances.

The striker has joined former Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan at Camp Nou, after the German international completed a free transfer to La Liga after turning down a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Gundogan was one of Manchester City’s prominent departures in the recent summer transfer window, with Riyad Mahrez and Cole Palmer also leaving Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning side.

Manchester City welcome four new players to the Etihad Stadium this summer, including the arrival of Jeremy Doku, who has made an impressive start to life with the Blues after signing from Stade Rennais.

Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes have also joined Manchester City, who were forced back into the transfer market after Kevin De Bruyne suffered a serious hamstring injury on the opening weekend of Manchester City’s Premier League campaign.

Sport Witness claim Manchester City have turned down the chance to sign Joao Felix following the Belgian’s hamstring injury, with the club having twice turned down the chance to sign the 23-year-old.

Guardiola is said to have ‘shown no interest’ in signing Felix, despite the player’s agent Jorge Mendes having offered the striker to the Manchester City manager.

Mendes and Felix failed to convince Manchester City, while Manchester United and Benfica also abandoned deals with the Portuguese international.

Guardiola previously praised Félix when Manchester City faced the 23-year-old in the 2022 UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

The Blues twice turned down the chance to sign Félix, before he signed with Barcelona once – Seasonal long loan.
