Manchester United takeover: Glazers at risk of backlash from Qatar as sale process nears completion He said he does not plan to follow any procedures. And there is a risk of a pullback from Qatar after Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani set a tough deadline for an improved fifth offer earlier this week.

Lead bidder Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe are reportedly expecting to learn about the decision to sell the Glazer family in the coming days.

Mr Ratcliffe was seen as a front-runner as he made a takeover offer that allowed the Glazer family to retain a minority stake in United.

However, optimism is said to be widespread in Qatar as Sheikh Jassim’s fifth and final outright sale bid aligns with INEOS’s top dog approach.

According to the latest information, the Glazers have no plans to repeat the process followed by the Rain Group in the final stages of a full Chelsea sale.

According to CBS Sports, the US family wants to maintain competitive pressure by denying preferred bidders a monopoly period.

As was the case with Todd Boley’s consortium in the race to buy Chelsea, no preferred or lead bidder has been disclosed publicly or privately.

Instead, the Glazers want the Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim proposals, and parties interested in minority stakes, to be finalized when they announce their decisions.

The report adds that the seven-month process has been set back significantly, with many steps normally taken at the exclusivity stage already in place.

If the chosen alternative were carried over, it should allow for quicker completion, again leaving little chance for the failing party to try to overturn the decision later.

With Roman Abramovich’s hasty sale of Chelsea and Lane also managing, it was important to identify preferred bidders.

However, the Glazer family extended the process of selling United and attracting outside investment, making it unnecessary.

There may be light at the end of Old Trafford’s takeover tunnels, but it’s still unclear who will have the upper hand from the outside.
