Manchester United have abandoned their pursuit of Harry Kane after feeling Tottenham ‘didn’t want to sell him’.

The Red Devils have spent the last few months working closely with England captain Kane, 29, as he prepares for the final 12 months of his contract with Spurs.

In recent weeks, Real Madrid have joined the Lilywhites in the race for a record scorer.

And according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United are now considering “other options” when looking for a new striker.

The 20-year-old scored 16 goals in 42 appearances for the Serie A team in the 2022/23 season.

When asked about interest from Man United earlier this week, Hojlund told Danish media portal Tipsbladet: “It’s a huge club, so if they say they want me, I’m right. I must have done something,” he said. “It happens. As you can see, we could well imagine a lot could happen with a few strikers this summer.

“A lot of clubs are missing nines, so something will definitely happen in that regard. And we need to see if I’m there.”
