The Glazers have been exploring strategic alternatives for nearly a year.

Manchester United takeover hopeful Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani may have shot himself in the foot in trying to buy the club. Qatar’s prominent banking group repeatedly signaled to the Glazers that their final offer had been made, only to then raise the stakes.

United’s controversial owners have launched a takeover process that has lasted almost a year. Neither Sheikh Jassim nor his colleague, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, met the £6 billion price tag set by the Glazers.

Red Devils fans are looking forward to the billionaires leaving Old Trafford amid heavy criticism for leaving the club in debt and poor management from the leadership. But the Glazers seem willing to block out the noise until they get their desired prize.

Sheikh Jassim can only hold himself responsible for this matter. The Qatari, who has promised to invest heavily in the club if his takeover proposal is accepted, has repeatedly made “final offers” which have subsequently increased.

Reports indicate that during negotiations with the Glazers and Raine Group, the bank overseeing the sale, Sheikh Jassim’s camp issued a similar ultimatum after the third, fourth and Their fifth is given.

Given that the threat of a “final offer” has yet to materialize, it seems the Glazers will sit back and wait for more money to be put on the table until their financial demands are satisfied.
