Mason Mount has been spotted with a mystery blonde woman, who accompanied him on Wednesday to find his Land Rover Defender in the process of being slapped with a parking ticket.

ESPN claimed that given the 25-year-old counted as an academy product, coupled with the need for the club to raise money after a significant transfer outlay last season, Mount’s departure was viewed as the perfect solution to generate much-needed cash.

‘I don’t think Chelsea wanted to sell him,’ Ten Hag said ahead of his side’s 4-3 defeat by the Blues. ‘They wanted to keep him and offered him a new contract many times. But he wanted to make this step.

‘He’s a fantastic football player. It’s important first that he’s getting and keeping fit.’
