Many Premier League teams are said to be watching the 18-year-old following his prolific start to the new season.

He enhanced his reputation against Newcastle United last weekend, scoring a superb hat-trick taking his tally to four this season.

Interest in this budding talent came after he exploded onto the scene last season, scoring 10 goals in all competitions.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are among the teams considering signing the player – not to mention Man City.

According to iNews, the Blues want to buy Ferguson to pair with goalkeeper Erling Haaland in attack to create a formidable attacking duo.

But the team that won the treble will have to splurge because the Irishman is valued at £150m.

The Seagulls believe Ferguson’s departure from the club will result in a fee greater than Moises Caicedo’s record £115m move to Chelsea.

Ferguson, meanwhile, has been likened to the likes of Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane, but Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has compared him to Italy great Christian Vieri.

Asked who he reminds him off, he told The Daily Mail: “Christian Vieri… Bobo Vieri was left-footed, Evan is right. But their characteristics are very close. I have an Italian colleague here in the room, please explain to everyone, they are very similar, because I’m very tired!

“But Bobo Vieri was a great player. Molto forte (very strong). He scored more than 200 goals. He worked the same areas as Evan.”

On Ferguson, Shearer himself said: “I can tell, just with his movement, his touch and his understanding of the game, that he is a special talent already.”
