Man City ‘fish in troubled waters’ and will ‘pay high figure’ for player ‘essential’ to Pep’s ‘perfect machine’

Man City manager Pep Guardiola is looking to ‘perfect the machine’ by signing Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi if Kyle Walker is sold to Bayern Munich.

Walker is attracting interest from the German champions, though Man City are reportedly eager to extend the experienced defender’s contract, which is currently set to expire in 2024.

The England international has won all there is to win with the Cityzens and could be eager to take on a new challenge.

Guardiola will obviously hope to keep hold of Walker, however, while he tries to find a new club for Joao Cancelo, who had a fairly underwhelming spell with Bayern Munich in the second half of last season.

And with Cancelo expected to leave and Walker attracting interest from the Bundesliga giants, City are now looking at potential replacements.

Unfortunately for the rest of the Premier League, they are interested in signing PSG right-back Hakimi, according to Marca.

The report says Guardiola wants to further ‘perfect the machine’ after winning the Treble in 2022/23, with Hakimi expected to ‘improve the squad superlatively’.

City will try to ‘fish in the troubled waters of PSG’ amidst the uncertainty surrounding Kylian Mbappe.

It is actually claimed that Walker has decided ‘to pick up his bags to look for a new adventure at Bayern’ and Guardiola has ‘requested’ that the City bosses ‘launch’ for Hakimi, who is under contract in the French capital for another three years.

It is noted that the Moroccan’s contract situation means an exit this summer will be very ‘difficult’ to come to fruition.

City are apparently willing to ‘pay a high figure’ to land Hakimi as he is ‘essential for the perfect machine’ Guardiola is building at the Etihad.

Hakimi’s agent Alejandro Camano has his client is unlikely to leave PSG and has backed the club’s director of football, Luis Campos, to turn things around after a difficult season.

“Paris is 100 per cent on his mind, it’s our project,” Camano said.

“Campos has all my respect and all my confidence for the future. I think he will turn things around, from there we will see what the future holds for Achraf.”

Camano also admitted Real Madrid “will always be his home”, hinting that he would love to the city he was born and the club he played 17 times for.

He added: “Achraf has spent 5 years outside Real Madrid now, but Real Madrid will always be his home. Somewhere in his heart, there is Real Madrid that has been formed since he was a child.”
