Manchester City’s talisman Erling Haaland is determined to beat Arsenal to the title despite falling behind in the standings after the champions beat Liverpool last April.

Erling Haaland knows Manchester City will keep regained the Premier League crown after beating Liverpool at the Etihad in April.

After emerging as shock title contenders last year, Arsenal have closely led Pep Guardiola’s side in the race for domestic glory. The Gunners even held a good advantage over the champions in the latter stages of the season before Man City rallied to win the championship with 5 points.

April proved to be the decisive month in the title race, with Arsenal winning just one of their five matches. That match resulted in a 4-1 scoreline at the Etihad, but Haaland has now revealed that he was adamant that City would remain champions before that match.

After being asked to elaborate on the moment he knew the title race was on with Jack Grealish, Haaland said: “For me it was Liverpool’s home game, I was very nervous. They were leading 1-0 ahead but if I know that if we win this [match], we will win [the title].”

Grealish pointed out that Arsenal were still well ahead of them at that point, prompting Haaland to add: “Yeah, five points [ahead] or something. But we just have the motivation. We know we will win. game, we ran.”

Haaland may have been convinced that Manchester City would rally and lead Arsenal to the title, but Grealish admitted he was not so sure. He added: “For me, it’s a bit different a bit.” I thought [Arsenal] wouldn’t lose here.

“I thought if we played that game against Arsenal and were three points behind them, because we still had a better goal difference, then if we won that game then we will lose. I just know that if we win up to this point before the Arsenal game, then I know we will win.”

City will meet the Gunners for the first time this season on Sunday in a match that could have major title implications. City had a perfect 100% record before their shock defeat to Wolves last weekend, while Arsenal know a win from last weekend’s match. Emirates will take them to the top of the league.

The champions will have to do without Rodri after the influential midfielder He was sent off against Nottingham Forest. Interestingly, Man City have lost twice – in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup – without the Spain international in their squad

Arsenal have worries about his own choice after Bukayo Saka had to leave the field due to injury again in midweek. He limped out of the Champions League defeat to Lens but is expected to feature in Sunday’s crucial clash.
