Manchester City are closing in on their fourth signing of the transfer window, finalising an agreement with Wolves for midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Manchester City have agreed to pay more for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes in exchange for a cheaper payment system.

City agreed a £47million verbal deal with Wolves on Wednesday but the two clubs have already agreed a definitive deal worth £53million, or €62million.

The Blues agreed to pay more for the Portugal international as the repayment plan suited them better. Nunes will now undergo a medical with City ahead of the completion of the transfer, which is expected at 11pm on Friday.

Midfielder Tommy Doyle will travel to Molineux for a medical on a separate full-season loan deal. Doyle is set to join Wolves on a temporary basis with a £5m purchase option next summer. If Wolves exercise this option, City will have a substantial resale clause going forward.

Assuming City complete Nunes’ transfer, he will join Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiola and Jeremy Doku to take home the club’s £200m-plus summer spending this summer.

Cole Palmer is expected to join Chelsea for around £45million before the transfer window closes. No immediate successor is expected after Dock was signed for £55m last week.

City sold around £100m worth of talent this summer, including proceeds from sell-out clauses from previous sales, with Palmer taking proceeds to over £150m.
