Manchester City should be wary of a strong Manchester United performance on Sunday afternoon, Kevin De Bruyne has insisted in fresh comments.

City come into their latest meeting with their arch rivals on a staggering run of form across all competitions, remaining unbeaten since around mid-December and including a FIFA Club World Cup success in Saudi Arabia.

That run stretches 18 games and has also seen Manchester City remain in the Emirates FA Cup having secured victories over Huddersfield, Tottenham, and Luton, whilst also securing a commanding lead over Copenhagen in the Champions League last-16 first-leg.

Manchester City’s run of games in March will likely have huge implications on the rest of their season however, with Pep Guardiola’s side taking on Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal, alongside an FA Cup quarter-final and European last-16 second-leg.

Speaking ahead of a decisive run of games for Manchester City during the month of March, Kevin De Bruyne has insisted that as long as he and his teammates are close to the top by the end of the month, they will feel in a strong position for the final push.

“Obviously, most of the big games come in March for us and if you are close to the top after March you basically fight to the end in the games that are coming,” said De Bruyne. “We try and get through that as much as possible and see where we are.”

The Belgian continued by looking ahead specifically to the Manchester derby on Sunday afternoon, as Erik ten Hag’s side visit the Etihad Stadium seeking revenge for their defeat at the hands of Guardiola’s players earlier this season.

“We are doing well, winning most of the games. (Sunday afternoon’s game) is still a derby and I know sometimes they do well when they have been struggling and we will try to give a good performance on Sunday.”

Manchester City will come into Sunday’s clash fresh off the back of a hugely impressive 2-6 victory in the FA Cup fifth round, with Erling Haaland scoring five goals himself and Mateo Kovacic getting on the scoresheet too.

Kevin De Bruyne was also in fine form as the Belgian playmaker returned to the starting eleven following a minor fitness hiccup, as the central midfielder notched an outstanding four assists and all for the aforementioned Norwegian centre-forward.
