Jamie Redknapp has hailed Kevin De Bruyne as the best midfielder in Premier League history after his stunning goal helped Man City to a 4-0 win over Brighton.

The Belgian superstar scored a diving header after 17 minutes to give Pep Guardiola’s side the lead at the Amex Stadium.

Redknapp compared the header to Robin van Persie’s famous goal for the Netherlands at the 2010 World Cup against Spain at half-time.

The Sky Sports pundit extended his praise post-match, claiming the Belgian’s ability to do things that are ‘out of this world’ elevates him to be the best midfielder in Premier League history.

‘Kevin De Bruyne, we’ve seen some greats, like [Steven] Gerrard, [Frank] Lampard, David Silva, Yaya Toure, unbelievable attacking midfielders, he’s the top one for me,’ Redknapp said.

‘He does things that are out of this world. The passes that he has seen throughout his career, since coming to the PL, there are not many that can do that.

Ex-Man City and Arsenal defender Gael Clichy believes the former’s match at Tottenham will be the ‘big one’ in deciding the outcome of the title race.   

‘I’m looking at Tottenham that can change the course of the race,’ Clichy said. 

‘If Arsenal can win away this will put pressure on City but I don’t see City dropping points against Forest, Wolves or Fulham but I can see them struggling against Tottenham. That will be the big one.’
