Man United play Spurs in the Premier League on Saturday and our writers have shared their preferred starting line ups.

Manchester United meet Tottenham in the Premier League inLondon on Saturday night.

United started the new season with a 1-0 winover Wolves earlier in the week and although theytook three points the performance was disappointing and Gary O’Neil’s menweresad to beleft with nothing.

Despite Raphael Varane scoring the winner against Wolves, his centre-back Lisandro Martinez was substituted at half-time. Martinez suffered a minor ankle injury but wasbackin full training ahead of thegameagainst Tottenham.

Asforthesquad, Rasmus Hojlund is still unavailable after signing for the club with a back injury.

Our writers have had their say on how United should line up against Spurs…

Samuel Luckhurst

United should only make one change. They were poor against Wolves but won and almost every starter is a first-choice pick.

The attack will be imperfect as there is still no striker (Anthony Martial barely counts these days). Jadon Sancho was mediocre in pre-season but did well when he came on against Wolves and he should be switching with Marcus Rashford in an unpredictable attack on the left.

Emerson Royal is a poor defensive right-back and Spurs should be vulnerable there, never mind the new goalkeeper and new centre half also making their home debuts.

One change

Steven Railston

The performance against Wolves was disappointing, but making knee-jerk reactions after the first game of the season would be foolish, so I’d only make just one change from the opening-day starting line-up.

That change would be to replace Garnacho with Sancho, who looked bright from the bench on Monday night. It feels harsh to drop the 19-year-old, but perhaps he’d make a better impact coming into the game in the second half.

Sancho also scored an excellent goal at this venue just a few months back and hopefully history can repeat itself.

George Smith

Despite the underwhelming manner in which United got the better of Wolves, it would be wrong to rip up the plan and start again from scratch. Ten Hag deployed what was very close to his strongest XI against the Black Country outfit, with only Hojlund likely to come into the team once he’s up and running.

However, after Rashford struggled to impact proceedings from the centre of the front three on Monday, he needs to be moved back out to the left flank. It is his best position and if United want him firing on all cylinders that is where he needs to play.

That means Garnacho is at risk of dropping out, but Sancho is an adequate replacement after an encouraging pre-season campaign. He could start centrally and be supported by Antony and Rashford either side of him.
