Gabriel Jesus was frustrated bythe lack of opportunities at Manchester City as a particular snubfrom Pep Guardiola brought the Brazilian to tears and increased his desire to leave Oleksandra Zinchenko.

Gabriel Jesus admits he was left in tears and told his mother he wanted to quit Manchester City after Pep Guardiola picked Oleksandr Zinchenko ahead of him.

The Brazilian has since left the Etihad and joined Arsenal, who finished second to his former side last term. Jesus spent six years at City, but was in and out of the starting XI, often playing second fiddle to Sergio Aguero who continued to command the No 9 spot.

Jesus’ Emotions reached a fever pitch on a European night against fellow heavy weight PSG when he was overlooked. Had it been a different striker he could have gone, but Guardiola made the unorthodox decision to use Zinchenko, normally a defender, in an attacking role despite showing no signs of a tactical switch. The Brazilian told the Denilson Show podcast:”There was a Champions League home game, PSG, where he put Zinchenko up like a false 9. Crazy stuff.” The day before he didn’t even use it in training, he used me as a striker. Zinchenko even joked with me: “I felt bad thatday or you.”

“Two hours before the game there is a team call, the team eats, rests 30 minutes and goes to the game… I haven’t even eaten. I went straight to myroomcryingand called my mom to say,”I want out.”I’m going home because Ifounded(Zinchenko). He used a left-back. I’mcrazy.”

Jesus finally scored the winning goal as City lost1-0 to Kylian Mbappe’sgoal. Raheem Sterling equalized before the Brazilian shot with 14 minutes remaining. Now the Arsenal man admits he wouldn’t even warm up until Guardiola called him.

Despite his exploitson the bench, Jesus was then snubbed for a subsequent Champions League game he thought was about to begin, which only fueled his desire to leave the Etihad and seek a new challenge.

He added,”Ididn’t warm up.” I felt sick. Five minutes after Mbappe madeit 1-0, [Guardiola] called me.I primed and shot; we changed the score to 2:1.The next ChampionsLeague game [2-1 win against RB Leipzig] I thought I would play, but I didn’t.“

I’ve been with him[Guardiola] a lot and it’s not easy. But a [player] evolves. It’s really difficult. Then I decided I didn’t want to stay anymore. And I decided to go.
