Former Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has been acquitted of rape and attempted rape charges at Chester Crown Court.

Mr Mendy was accused of raping a 24-year-old woman at her home in Cheshire in October 2020 and of attempting to rape a 29-year-old woman two years earlier.

A Frenchman who denied both charges was acquitted by a jury of six men and six women.

Earlier this year, the 28-year-old was acquitted of six charges of rape and one of sexual assault.

Affidavit issued by your solicitor, Jenny Wiltshire, Hickman & Rose said, “Benjamin Mendy would like to thank the jury for focusing on the evidence in this trial and not on the rumors and insinuations that have accompanied this case from the beginning.”

“This is the second time that Mr. Mendy be tried.” and found not guilty by a jury. He’s pleased that both jurors reached the correct verdicts.

“It has been almost three years since the police began investigating this case.Mr Mendy tried to stay strong, but the process inevitably took its toll on him.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported him through this process. He is now asking for privacy so he can start rebuilding his life.” Released by Manchester City on July 1, Mr Mendy was acquitted of all charges after a hearing at Chester Crown Court on Friday afternoon.
