Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag is ready to speak directly to 31-year-old defensive midfielder Casemiro.

According to Ben Jacobs via GIVEMESPORT, Erik ten Hag is ready to sit down with Casemiro to discuss his recent performance. The 31-year-old has not been at his best since the start of the season and his form has caused a lot of problems for the Red Devils so far in the 2023/24 season.

Manchester United have had one of their worst starts to this season. Nothing seems to be going well for Erik ten Hag and his men. Although they won their last outing against Brentford thanks to Scott McTominay’s injury-time brace, they struggled in every aspect.

The Red Devils are currently tenth in the Premier League with four wins and as many losses in eight outings. They have a goal difference of -3. In the Champions League, they have not yet opened an account after losing the first two matches.

One of the reasons for the poor start to the season is Casemiro’s form. The 31-year-old joined the Manchester-based club last summer for £70m from Real Madrid. He had an excellent first season with the club.

But things did not go as planned for him in the 2023-24 season. He appeared in 11 matches and scored 5 goals. But he defensively failed to keep his promise. The Brazil international was sent off once and replaced by his manager in his final outing.

Casemiro is Manchester United’s highest paid player as he earns £350,000 per week. But his performances have now become a headache for their manager, who is ready to go toe-to-toe with the Brazil international, according to Jacobs.

Jacobs said, “He is very well-liked at the club. But if you ask him to fulfil a new role, change something or train a different way, there will still be some pushback. That’s not because there is necessarily tension or friction, but just because that’s how established, elite-level players work.

“They’ve had success all their lives while often doing things one way, and Casemiro spent so long at Real Madrid that he is probably not going to dramatically change that.

“I think what ten Hag will do, as I understand it, is hold some one-on-one talks with Casemiro to understand what’s happening this season and find a solution. That solution, after the international break, may involve a few more minutes for Scott McTominay.”

Jacob believes the 31-year-old has an exceptional relationship with people at the club as well as his teammates. But, he is not really open to new ideas when it comes to training that might be because of the kind of success he has had at Real Madrid doing things his way.

The journalist feels in the end after the two hold a meeting, the solution might be a few more minutes for Scott McTominay in the upcoming games. While Ten Hag will try his best to get his highest-paid player back in form, he will have to look elsewhere if Casemiro fails to revive himself.
