As Man United continue to look to sign a striker, the current strikers missed a target in the Real Madrid defeat.

Erik ten Hag has once again criticized Manchester United’s indecency in the defeat by Real Madrid as the search for a striker continues.

United lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in Houston and have only scored four goals in their four senior pre-season games so far.

Sources at the club are hopeful the striker will be signed before the September 1 transfer window closes, but Ten Hag was angered by United’s defeat in Houston.

When asked if the performance highlighted United’s need for a new striker, he replied: “Absolutely.”Two things: the pressing can be better from the start and they can score goals.

I think we need more players who can play one on one. “We had situations like this: it was (Marcus) Rashford, Scott McTominay, (Alejandro) Garnacho, you have to score.” It’s always difficult to see…. But we work 24/7.

We do a lot at the club, we have the strength to achieve it. “We never talk about players who are under contract with another club, we have our goals, we are there for you 24/7, we take care of it, with the right player to sign with us,” cashed in United were 10 players after just six minutes against Real Madrid as Kobbie Mainoo was sent off through injury.

Mainoo exited NRG Stadium on crutches and a safety boot on his left foot. Ten Hag questioned Jude Bellingham’s goal back then, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka seemed to have played it wide. Joselu secured Real Madrid’s victory with an 89th-minute volley.

“Well it was a bad start for us, only Kobbie Mainoo’s injury, he has to retire and then we’re outnumbered and we concede a goal straight away,” added Ten Hag. “Offside? On the website? It’s very difficult to spot. “But then I think we met again, face to face.

Of course Real Madrid are a great team, great players, but we created great chances.”We have to be more clinical and score goals in these situations. I think we had a couple, three or four very good chances but we didn’t have any. but admitted the latter. Overall I’ve seen good stuff and that’s how you know you’re going in the right direction against a good opponent, against a complicated system, and I’m happy about that.
