This was used as a reason for why Ederson is reportedly contemplating a move to Saudi Arabia this summer with Al Ittihad thought to be keen to sign him. But taking to social media, the 30-year-old has given his side of the story on the report.

He wrote: “Clarifying that the note published by The Athletic yesterday, referring to the alleged dissatisfaction on my part with a co-worker. It is totally false.

“The alleged day reported was undoubtedly one of the most difficult days of my career when I suffered a fracture that prevented me from disputing the final stretch of the season and consequently, also in representing my country in the Copa America. At the time of the injury, my thought was only to continue in the match, defending City in the dispute of the title, but the emotion of the match would be greater than the reality and fatally, I would not be able to proceed as I would like due to the damage it caused, completely preventing my field of view.

“I’m still focused on the preparation for the season. EM31.”

Ortega signed a new contract at the Etihad Stadium at the beginning of this summer. Meanwhile, Ederson has two years remaining on his deal.
