Arsenal are set for a transfer sucker punch as Manchester City close in on a deal for Declan Rice.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the club are close to finalizing a deal for him and the treble winner is West. It is said that he is confident in the contract with the ham star player.
The Hammers value Rice at over £100million and any club will need to match that figure to sign the 24-year-old.
A deal for Man City to sign the England international would be a huge blow to Arsenal.
The Gunners have already made two offers for Rice this summer, the latest of which was made last week in the form of an offer worth up to £90million.
Despite a record offer from the club, Arsenal’s offer was rejected because it was below West Ham’s valuation.
Now Mikel Arteta’s team appears to be in danger of missing out on its ultimate goal of the summer.
Rice has 12 months left on his contract at London Stadium, but West Ham have the option to extend it for a further 12 months, meaning there is no need to sell it cheap.
The midfielder was said to favour a move to Arsenal, however that could now change given the opportunity to join Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning side.
