We take a look at how the Gunners players got on in the second half of their pre-season friendly clash with Lyon in the Emirates Cup.

David Raya: The intensity with which he was looking to get the restarts going from goal kicks is a sign of how just seriously he was taking this pre-season match. Made a good one-vs-one save when called upon. 7.

Ben White: Given a longer run out than most of the rest of the Arsenal team. A sign of where he is in terms of his fitness in relation to the others. 6.

William Saliba: Could have scored another from a set piece. Continues to look a classy operator at the back. 7.

Gabriel: The leader in this Arsenal back line. All the talk is about Saliba but he’s arguably the more crucial of the two. Robust in the tackle and assured off the ball. 7.

Oleksandr Zinchenko: Some really nice moments on the ball. Looks ready to start the season despite all the criticism. 7.

Thomas Partey: His best performance of pre-season so far. Economical in possession and assured. Defensively focused too. If he can stay fit, will be an asset for Arsenal this season. 7.

Martin Odegaard: Creatively switched on throughout the game. Played several nice passes in behind the Lyon backline. Given longer than most others as well and looks ready to start the season. 7

Declan Rice: Not asked to do as much set piece work this half, but good off the ball with his pressing as per usual. Might not be able to last 90 minutes yet, but looks up to speed for an hour or so. 7.

Bukayo Saka: It’s hard to remember a game where Saka had so many headed chances. He couldn’t take any but still looked a threat7. even without the end product on this occasion. Will want more consistency with his set piece delivery though. 7.

Kai Havertz: Showed what a useful player he’s going to be by featuring in not one, but two positions. Looked good up front and showed some ability in midfield. 7.

Gabriel Martinelli: Still struggling to find his technical quality when running at high speed on a consistent basis. Worked well off the ball once again. 6.

SUBSTITUTES –

Riccardo Calafiori: Won the fans over early on his debut with some real intensity in his off the ball work. Interesting to see him ened the game at centre back after coming on at left back. 7.

Gabriel Jesus: Looked eager to make an impact after coming on at centre forward. The fact he’s been used their exclusively this season is an indicator of Arteta’s plans for him. 6.
