Manchester United have dropped a huge hint on who will be handed the club’s iconic No.7 shirt next season.

The Old Trafford club have teamed up with Adidas to unveil their home kits for next season.

TheTraditional Red Home belt features black detailing on the shoulders and a crew neck with red, white and black stripes.

In addition, the design features a red Lancaster rose as a tribute to the county of Lancashire. The set is also inspired by the bridge over the River Irwell that connects Manchester and Salford.

When the club released the new shirt, the club’s website published a hint as to which player would inherit Cristiano Ronaldo’s number 7 shirt.

The iconic numberwas vacated by Ronaldo in November after the five-time Ballon d’Or winner acrimoniously left the club.

Man Utd No.7 hint

With the kit now on sale, United’s website gives fans the option to add the name and number of their favourite player at the back of the shirt.

However, the United website warned fans that numbers could change ahead of the season, including the No.7 shirt, which has been without an owner for seven months.

Meanwhile, ‘Garnacho 49’ is not currently a pre-loaded option available for supporters to select, hinting that he might not be wearing the No.49 shirt next term.

Indeed, the suggestion Garnacho could be handed the No.7 shirt was corroborated by a Manchester Evening News report last week, which claimed the Old Trafford club were considering handing the 18-year-old the famous number.

If that were to be the case Garnacho would become the first teenager to wear the No.7 shirt since Ronaldo in 2003. The Argentina international, who finished last season with six goals and six assists, signed a five-year contract in April.

Should Garnacho’s promising performances be awarded the No.7 shirt, he would be following in the footsteps of the likes of some of United’s greatest players, including George Best, Eric Cantona and David Beckham.
