Manchester City completed their preparations for their third Champions League group stage match of the season when they trained at the Wankdorf Stadium on Tuesday evening.

City arrive in Switzerland having won their first two Champions League games, following wins against Red Star at the Etihad Stadium and RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena in Germany.

BSC Young Boys pose a very different test for the reigning European champions, not least because of the contrasting playing surface that Pep Guardiola’s players will have to get used to before the match.

Because Wankdorf Stadium has a synthetic pitch, Manchester City have changed their travel arrangements for the match, canceling the final pre-match training session at the City Football Academy for the warm-up in Bern on Tuesday night .

City enter the fray after a deserved Premier League win on Saturday afternoon, beating Roberto De Zerbi’s challenging Brighton & Hove Albion thanks to a 2-1 scoreline and goals from Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland .

The trip to Switzerland will also serve as a warm-up ahead of Sunday afternoon’s clash at Old Trafford, when Manchester City take on bitter rivals Manchester United in a highly anticipated derby.

BSC Young Boys are Manchester City’s opponents in the third and fourth matches of this season’s Champions League group stage, when the Swiss side travel to the Etihad Stadium in early November for the reverse fixture.

In the final training session before Wednesday night’s match at Wankdorf Stadium, Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City team have now completed their final preparations on the artificial pitch.

Here’s the full list of players spotted in Bern on Tuesday night!

NUMBER-man senior Manchester City training squad ahead of BSC Young Boys

Goalkeepers: Ederson, Ortega Moreno, Carson.

Defenders: Walker, Lewis, Dias, Akanji, Ake, Stones, Gvardiol, Gomez.

Midfielders: Rodri, Phillips, Kovacic, Nunes, Bernardo, Hamilton.

Forwards: Foden, Doku, Alvarez, Haaland, Grealish, Bobb.

Micah Hamilton is the only Manchester City Academy player to receive the call-up to the first-team squad for the visit to the Wankdorf Stadium on Wednesday night, earning some invaluable experience with Pep Guardiola’s set-up.

Kevin De Bruyne is the only absentee as the Belgian continues his recovery from a hamstring injury that resulted in surgery, with the attacking midfielder expected back in first-team training later this year.
