Man United travel to Bramall Lane to back rock-bottom Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Manchester United travel to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United on Saturday night as they look to win their second successive Premier League title.

Having won two of their last four meetings with the Blades, United will be aiming for a dramatic 2-1 win against Brentford before the international break. Substitute Scott McTominay scored a dramatic two-goal goal in stoppage time to secure the valuable three points.

Despite beating the Bees, United’s performance, not the first of the season, left something to be desired. That means we need to create something more encouraging and positive in South Yorkshire. They have yet to perform well for 90 minutes in a league match this season.

However, coach Erik ten Hag will be hoping that the expected return of Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon, and possibly Coby Mainu, will give the team even more confidence and motivation. Varan and Reguilon had been in and out of the treatment room recently, although the latter had been away for a long time.

Despite a difficult start to life in England, new signing Andre Onana is ready to start after scoring in 12 consecutive games in all competitions. The 27-year-old, who played for Cameroon during the international break, will be hoping to build on his record of conceding just two goals in the Premier League so far this season.

In front of the former Inter Milan goalkeeper, Ten Hag could turn to a more familiar back four after having to sort things out against Brentford. Varane and Reguilon have both been shortlisted and are likely to start at centre-back and left-back respectively.

Diogo Dalot is certain to start at right-back, but Harry Maguire could keep his place alongside Varane in the heart of the defence. Maguire provided the assist for McTominay’s winning goal against Brentford and put in a solid performance for England against Italy in midweek.

Ten Hag will be without Casemiro in midfield for the first time this season. United said he was excluded from the trip over the Pennines after suffering a “minor issue” while on international duty with Brazil.

In Sofian Amrabat’s absence, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes are likely to be deployed in the defensive midfield with support in the engine room. Amrabat and Fernandes are likely to secure a starting spot, while Mount is competing for the eighth spot with Christian Eriksen and McTominay.

McTominay was the hero against Brentford, but United have spent big on Mount and Ten Hag may feel he needs more game time to adapt to his new surroundings. However, Eriksen should be considered because of his ability to control the case.

In attack, Ten Hag should give Anthony a first start since his recent departure. He was substituted before half-time in both games against Galatasaray and Brentford and will be pushing for his first start since September 3.

If he is given a starting spot on the right wing, the Brazilian will be joined in attack by Rasmus Hjøjlund and Marcus Rashford. Both players will be looking to build on their midweek targets for Denmark and England respectively.
