Manchester City are ready to sign Oscar Bobb to a new contract. The report reveals how manager Josep Guardiola’s view of the player led to his decision to make a major transfer in the summer.

Bob broke into Man City’s first team this season, playing the first five games of his professional career. Despite interest from other countries, he is gradually starting to justify Man City’s decision to keep him this summer.

According to the Daily Star, Man City are set to hand Bob a new contract to reflect his recent promotion. His contract currently runs until 2026, but the Premier League champions are keen to extend his contract until 2029.

Additionally, they are preparing to increase his salary from £12,000 to £36,000 per week.

The report also claims that Guardiola believes Bob has even greater potential than Cole Palmer, which is why they sold the academy graduate to Chelsea this summer. This is surprising to some people.

Palmer has made six appearances for Chelsea so far, scoring one goal and providing two assists. He made 41 appearances for City, scoring six goals and setting up two more for his team-mates.

Bob’s challenge now is to fill that void and express his potential. The 20-year-old made his first international appearance for Norway’s senior national team in Thursday’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Cyprus.

It will not be easy for him to break into Man City’s first team, but the Daily Star reports that Bob is believed to be able to do it without going out on loan elsewhere. He is therefore temporarily unavailable for a move in the January transfer window.

Bob begins to realize Man City’s potential

Recently Bob made his first appearance in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United. His only subsequent appearances for Man City were on the bench.

He was named Man City’s Elite Development Team Player of the Year for the second consecutive year at the end of last season.

During his time with Man City as an Under-21 player, he scored 40 goals in 60 appearances, highlighting the potential he is now beginning to realize.

He has been in Man City’s team since 2019 and the treble winners hope to continue to benefit from his development in the future, which is why offering him a new contract is an option for the field. It has become one of the main concerns outside.
