Manchester United and Manchester City’s ball numbers for the Carabao Cup round of 16 draw has been confirmed.
The Red Devils qualified for the next round with a commanding home win on Tuesday evening. Erik ten Hag’s men beat Crystal Palace 3-0 thanks to goals from Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Martial and Casemiro. It was a much-needed convincing performance for United after a disappointing start to the season.
Ten Hag has made some changes but should take the Carabao Cup very seriously, just as he did last season when United won the cup.
With the Premier League likely to overtake the Red Devils this season, the Carabao Cup could be one of the best ways to win a trophy and they are already in the last 16. The same goes for six other teams, including six other teams, five non-Premier League teams, and there are nine more games on Wednesday night, including City’s clash with Newcastle United.
Pep Guardiola’s men have dominated the competition in recent years and will look to steal the spotlight from United this season but face a tough test just behind goal.
Of Wednesday’s nine remaining games, four will be played exclusively in the Premier League, ensuring four more Premier League teams reach the round of 16, while a further four Premier League teams will face opponents from lower leagues and a clean sheet between the two champion teams: Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City.
The fourth round draw takes place on Wednesday evening following Newcastle United and Manchester City live on Sky Sports and here is the full ball number.
