Manchester United aiming for at least three more sales in transfer window as Harry Maguire move stalls

The transfer window is open for just over two more weeks and Man United remain intent on overseeing more outgoings.

Manchester United are expected to sell at least three more players before the transfer window closes, but Harry Maguire’s move to West Ham has stalled.

Eric Bailly and Brandon Williams were told they could leave permanently if the right offer came along. Bailly has attracted interest from Turkish and Saudi clubs. Bailly, 29, had his squad number stripped last week while Williams, 22, is a fourth left-back and has been told it is in his best interests to leave and play elsewhere regularly.

United were negotiating a possible permanent sale of Donny van de Beek to Real Sociedad and the Dutchman was left out of the squad for their first Premier League win over Wolves.

United accepted a £30million offer from West Ham for Maguire but a source said the deal is now unlikely. Maguire is believed to have demanded a pay-off nearing £10m to leave.

Maguire, stripped of the United captaincy last month, was an unused substitute against Wolves as manager Erik ten Hag turned to centre-back Victor Lindelof to replace Lisandro Martinez at half-time.

Nottingham Forest assistant manager Alan Tate spoke to United director of football John Murtough on Monday night about the club’s interest in re-signing Dean Henderson.

Ten Hag have hinted Henderson will now stay at the club with Tom Heaton out with a calf injury. Henderson, 26, was reinstated in the United squad for the first time since May 2022 against Wolves when teenage goalkeeper Radek Vitek was the alternative. England international Henderson wants to leave United.

So far this summer United have sacked David de Gea, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe and sold Brazilian duo Alex Telles and Fred, Anthony Elanga and goalkeeper Matej Kovar.Zidane Academy graduates Iqbal, Ethan Laird and Charlie Savage are also gone forever.
