Fred’s time at Man United is over after five years and one trophy in England as he prepares to join Fenerbahce.

Manchester United have agreed a transfer fee of 15 million euros for midfielder Fred with Fenerbahce. United receive a €10m upfront payment and a €5m bonus for the 30-year-old Brazilian, who last played for the club in the FA Cup final in June.

Fred will fly to Istanbul on Saturday for a medical check-up and the contract is subject to international approval. United signed Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 for £52m and the Brazil international made 213 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals.

Fred started last season by beating Newcastle United in the League Cup final and losing the FA Cup final to Manchester City. United launched a one-year contract extension for Fred but still planned to sell him as they wanted to sign a younger midfielder.

Mason Mount joined United from Chelsea for £60million last month. Fred and United have parted ways on good terms and the club are happy to have received a reasonable transfer fee for the 30-year-old after less than a year’s contract.

According to United, Fred will leave “with gratitude and respect for his tremendous contributions to the team over the past five years”.

Fred’s last appearance for United came as a substitute in a friendly win over Lyon in Edinburgh last month, where he captained the side in the second half.
