Manchester United will ask a transfer fee of over £30m from clubs looking to sign Harry Maguire this summer.

Maguire’s future at the club is in doubt after Erik ten Hag made the decision to sack the centre-back as the club’s captain after a disappointing season that saw the 30-year-old lose his place in the squad.

The season is on and several Premier League clubs are watching his situation, and a £20m offer for the England international has been rejected at West Ham.

Tottenham and Everton have also been linked, although the Independent reported interested clubs would have to spend more than £30m to sign the defender.

Erik ten Hag has publicly said Maguire is still part of his plans and has urged the centre-back to fight for his place at Old Trafford, but a lack of first-team football could jeopardize Maguire’s hopes of an England appearance in the next Summer endanger European championship.

“It wasn’t against Harry, it was for the good of the team,” Ten Hag said of his decision to become captain. “Then you make the decision. But I won’t say Harry doesn’t belong in that group.

He has to fight for his position. “He’s a very good centre-back and I believe in Harry Maguire’s potential.

He just has to prove himself and earn his place on the team. It’s up to him and I think he can do it.
