Manchester City’s Premier League match against Brentford at the Etihad Stadium has been postponed.

Pep Guardiola’s side, who lost to Brentford twice last season in the Premier League, have postponed the clash in December due to Manchester City’s expected participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.

City lost 1-2 at the Etihad Stadium to Brentford last year thanks to an Ivan Toney brace, while the Sky Blues also lost 1-0 on the final day of the Premier League campaign against the west London club.

Ethan Pinnock’s 85th-minute goal meant Manchester City ended their winning season in defeat, as a 25-match unbeaten run ended due to weather at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Guardiola’s side will advance to the semi-finals, but will not be able to face the Copa Libertadores winners until the final, if both teams qualify.

After winning the Champions League, Man City also qualified for the Club World Cup Open in the US in 2025 and the UEFA Super Cup next month.

Manchester City travel to Athens to face Sevilla between Premier League matches against Burnley and Newcastle United.
