Manchester City are in the middle of an important summer, with several key Treble-winning stars on their way out of the Etihad for pastures new.

Pep Guardiola’s winning team will likely have more holes than some of the courses he enjoys visiting. It can take years to build great teams like Manchester City.

But a few weeks of neglect is enough for it to be ripped off. And with this summer’s transfer window approaching, it looks like Guardiola could face an even bigger challenge than he just faced.

Ilkay Gundogan has left for Barcelona and will leave a big gap in midfield.Make no mistake, the German was the mastermind behind City’s historic success on the pitch and we will miss him dearly.

The same would be with Bernardo Silva if, as already mentioned, the Portuguese decided to throw himself to the highest peaks and look elsewhere for a new challenge.

Silva has been a perpetual motion machine for City in recent seasons and one of Guardiola’s most influential stars.

Riyad Mahrez would also prove to be a big mistake. He should be the latest big name to leave his moral compass in his locker and accept the high salaries on offer at one of the Saudi clubs.

Mahrez helped City reach the FA Cup final last season and then spent a friendly on the bench. He’s also watched the Champions League final from the sidelines and knows he’s guaranteed regular football elsewhere – and obscene wages.

Aymeric Laporte is also expected to leave the Etihad, falling behind John Stones, Ruben Dias and even Manuel Akanji in the defensive pecking order. For most managers, winning the Champions League and securing that historic treble means a sense of accomplishment.

But Guardiola is not like “most managers”. His obsession with winning is staggering – and it won’t wane just as he conquered Europe for the first time as City manager in his seventh season at Manchester.

The tenacious Spaniard will look to clinch the treble again next season in a bid to cement his legacy as the greatest manager of all time.

To do this, he still has to make a few signatures to ensure that his blue car is still purring. first world problems, right? Guardiola should have the resources and reputation to lure the biggest and best players in the world to the Manchester blue half.

On the other hand, Jude Bellingham has opted for Real Madrid and Declan Rice kept his promise to join Arsenal despite strong interest from the English champions.

Also, Kevin De Bruyne turned 32 last month and has finally won the one trophy he’s missing. His club career now appears to be over and he knows time is not on his side.
