United have made signing a new striker a top priority this summer and have chosen Harry Kane as their first target.

But Tottenham are determined not to sell to their Premier League rivals, even if the England international leaves next year on a free transfer.

20-year-old Holland is also being considered as a candidate. Atalanta are reportedly willing to pay at least £40m for the striker, who scored nine goals in 32 appearances in his debut season in Serie A.

The Dane is keen to move to Manchester and is reported to have recently signed with agency group SEG, which also represents United manager Eric ten Haag.

Hojlund, who currently plays for the Danish national team in the Euro qualifiers against Northern Ireland and Slovenia, has teamed up with his agent to help him deal with an increase in inquiries about his services.

And although he has dismissed the offer, he has already discussed a move to United in a video call with Ten Hag, suggesting he would consider any formal offer.

“This is a probationary period and that’s all I can say,” Mr. Hodjland told Hintbladet of his decision to contact agents, but did not specify which agents he would contact.

Regarding the interest from United, he added: “It’s a huge club, so if there were rumors that they wanted me, I must have done the right thing.” We’ll have to see what happens.

“As you can see, many clubs are looking for the number 9 shirt, so you can imagine a lot can happen to some strikers this summer.”

“Something is definitely up. “It’s going to happen and then we’ll have to wait and see.”

Hojlund joined Atalanta from Austrian side Sturm Graz for £15m last August.
