With David De Gea still yet to agree a new deal with the Red Devils, the uncertainty surrounding Old Trafford’s goalkeeping division is enormous.

De Gea’s term expires at the end of this month, but No. 2 Tom Heaton is also under contract until June 30 and Jack Butland, No. 3 for the second half of the 2022-23 season, is fully booked. Transferred to Rangers who have a contract.

De Gea is expected to be announced soon, with the Spaniard reportedly turning down a number of big offers from Saudi Arabia as he is determined to stay at Old Trafford.

However, the 2022/23 season was full of mistakes and there is no guarantee that last season’s Premier League Golden Glove winner will become the club’s first ever stopper.

Porto’s Costa has been heavily involved in a move to Old Trafford in recent months, with the 20-time English champion planning an offer, according to O Jogo.

The report claims Porto will need a financial boost by the end of this month, so the Portuguese giant will probably make the offer as part of a £65m release clause included in the deal. It is said that there is a possibility of receiving.

The 23-year-old has been in form for his Portuguese club in 2022/23, keeping 20 clean sheets in 41 appearances and conceding just 30 goals.

The Portuguese international, who graduated from his current club’s academy, made his debut in 2019 and has made 109 appearances in all competitions.

Costa recently downplayed speculation that he could move to Old Trafford this summer, revealing he wants to stay at Porto at least until 2027 when his contract expires.

The goalkeeper has kept seven clean sheets in 15 Champions League appearances for his current team, and 32 clean sheets in 70 league games.

Dean Henderson is currently set to return to Man United this summer, but the England international are reportedly in talks about a permanent move to Nottingham Forest.

Man United are expected to spend a lot of money in this summer’s transfer market despite the uncertainty over ownership. A new centre-back, central midfielder and centre-forward are also said to be on manager Erik ten Haag’s wish list.
