Manchester City are gearing up for a fated duel and a chance to win a historic treble.

Pep Guardiola’s side are poised to face big-city rivals in the Champions League final against Inter Milan.

has the chance to add this famous silver coin to the Premier League and his FA Cup to cap off a truly memorable season.

United were, of course, the first English team to win his treble in 1998/99.

Both teams had star players and of course this beautiful game was led by two of the greatest managers this beautiful game has ever seen, Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola.

But who put together 11 players from a lineup steeped in history?

Choosing a goalkeeper was one of the toughest decisions.

The stopper role was truly a whole different game back then. It wasn’t about going back and forth on defense and everything, it was about clearing the line.

Both Peter Schmeichel and Ederson are confident between posts as expected, but both bring different skills to the job.

The Great Dane wins votes for its leadership qualities, defensive organization and outstanding strength of arms.

Nothing is more pleasing to the eye than aggressive football. So we went with his 3-4-3 formation.

United legend Jaap Stam is joined by City players Ruben Diaz and Kyle Walker.

Stum took no prisoners, was a flying beast, and incredibly fast for a big man.
Diaz was blessed when
City captured him – and he kept his promise. He’s one of Prem’s coolest defenders.

And Walker, who seems underrated by some, is unbeatable in the race and has plenty of power.

Midfield threes are as lip licking as the front line.

Rodri will be the focus. The Spaniard has been signed by Guardiola as Fernandinho’s long-term replacement. Since leaving the Etihad, the Brazilian has developed really well.

Paul Scholes sits right in front of Rodri and delivers a splitting pass to the formidable front line.

David Beckham is sure to impress the fans and secure his position on the wing. His superb crossing and free-kicking skills will have foam coming out of the forward’s mouth.

On the other side is Kevin De Bruyne. He and Bex can fight for the ball at free kicks and corners.

The final third is enough to instill fear in defenders.

Dwight Yorke and Andrew Cole are inseparable. They worked perfectly together in United’s treble-winning campaign, keeping the likes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Teddy Sheringham at bay.

And although he’s only played one season in the Premier League, Erling Haaland has to be in the squad.

With Cole on one side and Yorke on the other, it could be even worse than his 52 goals since joining City from Borussia Dortmund.

Players like Ryan Giggs, Ederson, Dennis Irwin, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva would be in most teams, but not this one.
