Man City fans SLAM referee for not giving a penalty for Kobbie Mainoo’s ‘WWE’ challenge on Erling Haaland… as Man United hold on to win FA Cup with 2-1 win over rivals

Manchester City fans have hit out at referee Andrew Madley after he failed to give Pep Guardiola’s side a penalty in their FA Cup Final defeat to Manchester United.

The Premier League champions were denied back-to-back double triumphs as first half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo saw Manchester United upset the odds at Wembley.

However, supporters in blue believed they were denied the chance to get back into the game at an earlier stage, when Mainoo wasn’t penalised for a challenge in the box on Erling Haaland.

Many compared the tackle to something you’d see in WWE, with one post saying, ‘The referee thought it as a WWE game’ and another backing it up with, ‘Manchester United players love WWE.’

Another compared it to different sport by posting, ‘Great rugby tackle there.’

Others declared ‘That’s a clear pen all day’, while another account thought City should have had two penalties after a foul on Haaland in the opening minutes of he match and said, ‘I can’t believe I’m saying this but City should have had 2 pens.’ 

There was even one fan who accused the officials of not wanting them to win and posted, ‘PGMOL don’t want us to win the double.’ 

Fans took to social media to complain about Manchester City not getting a penalty 

It wasn’t just the fans who were annoyed by the decision, Guardiola also seemed aggrieved after the final whistle as he vented his frustrations in the direction of the referee.
