Bruno Fernandes addressed his Manchester United future after leading his side to a 3-2 win against Newcastle on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils captain returned from injury to star at Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag’s men picked up a vital win to keep their hopes of securing European football for next season alive.

But Fernandes’ future at United is far from certain, as the Portuguese playmaker has been linked with European giants Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, as well as a potential move to Saudi Arabia to join former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo (right) reportedly wants to be reunited with his former United team-mate in Saudi Arabia, but Fernandes has said he wants to stay at Old Trafford if the club wants him

‘It’s been a tough season. Everyone knows that the table shows we don’t have to hide from that. We know it. The fans have been amazing all season and have been behind us and supporting us.

‘We really appreciate what they’ve been doing for us. Even in this tough area – they’re not used to that. We want to do better and they deserve that.

‘We had to do something [for the fans]. We’ve been trying – although the results don’t show that. But we’ve been trying our best.

‘We’ve been working hard and everyone is giving our best. But we are aware that we have to do more as I said it’s not about today we still have two games to go and have to finish in the best way.’
