Casemiro continues to be linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, and Cristiano Ronaldo has already made it clear he would relish the chance to play alongside the Brazilian for a third different club.

Casemiro, 32, only joined United in a £60m move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 but is now being linked with a move away from Old Trafford after a dramatic loss of form.

After a solid debut season with the Red Devils, Casemiro has struggled throughout the current campaign and was strongly criticised over his performance in United’s 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher claimed that Casemiro’s time playing at the top level is up and that those around him should urge him to move elsewhere in the summer.

The Portuguese superstar has previously expressed his admiration for Casemiro and in particular the midfielder’s professionalism.

In an explosive interview with Piers Morgan shortly before his departure from United, Ronaldo named the Brazilian as one of only three players in Erik ten Hag’s squad who were ‘top professionals’.

“In Manchester United I can mention [Diogo] Dalot, he’s young, but very professional but I don’t doubt that he’s going to have longevity in football because he’s young, he’s smart, intelligent and he’s very professional,” said Ronaldo.

“Probably [Lisandro] Martinez, Casemiro is in his 30s, but I will say Dalot.”

Meanwhile, United manager Erik ten Hag has refused to single out Casemiro for criticism, despite his poor performances in recent weeks.

Speaking after the defeat to Palace, Ten Hag said: “As you say, you can’t put this to one player, it’s a team performance.”
