Manchester United finished 3rd in the Premier League standings and once again qualified for the Champions League to finish the 2022/23 season.

There were some really notable matches on the way to a great placement.

Eric ten Haag’s first season at the Reds saw a string of excellent performances, some of which stood out from the rest.

United won 23 times throughout the season, but his best five games of the season were all at Old Trafford.

Ten Haag’s side entered their third game of the season against bitter rivals and needed a win after consecutive defeats to Brighton and Brentford.

Despite the pressure, there was something very special about Old Trafford that night. Our fans were engrossed from start to finish and were overjoyed by the incredible performances of each and every player.

It also felt like the moment new signing Lisandro Martinez was adored by United fans for his tough tackles and infectious passion.

Jadon Sancho’s first-half opener and Marcus Rashford’s second-half finish were big for the Merseysiders to make up for, despite Mohamed Salah’s second-half goal giving Eric his first win as a manager. It was too much.

UNITED 3 ARSENAL 1

Ten Haag’s side gradually picked up momentum, with a big victory over Arsenal in their next home game, continuing their triumph over Liverpool, and halting the momentum of a previously perfect Premier League side.

New signing Anthony puts the Reds ahead after Gabriel Martinelli’s initial contract was voided for a foul in a build-up game. On his debut, the Brazilian found Rashford and rolled the ball home after a great team move that saw everyone touch the ball.

Bukayo Saka equalized for the Gunners, but Rashford’s second-half goal secured United three points and gave the Ten Hague side a fourth consecutive win.

Victory over Spurs in October was perhaps the first game of the season in which United dominated from start to finish. People stood up and paid attention to what Ten Hag had built at United.

On another memorable night at Old Trafford, Fred beat Reid just after half-time before Bruno Fernandes added a last-minute addition.

From defense to attack, the Reds united and fought tirelessly for each other, garnering a fierce reaction from the crowd. Fans and players worked perfectly together and it was an incredibly powerful moment in United’s season.

Derby wins are always on this list, but the way they were won was a split second.

A tense game picked up momentum in the second half, with the Reds trailing after an hour through a goal from Jack Grealish. In a controversial situation, Fernandez equalized after 18 minutes, ending the game on edge.

Substitute Alejandro Garnacho then made a change from the bench, pivoting to the left and a low cross hit Rashford’s leg to award the penalty.

Turmoil continued at the Theater of Dreams as Eric’s side showed remarkable mental resilience in a come-from-behind victory over City to secure the well-deserved three points.

UNITED 4 CHELSEA 1

The last game in the top five is the one that saw the Reds qualify for next season’s Champions League.

In the penultimate league game of the season, United needed one more goal against the Blues to secure a return to the elite competition in Europe, finishing the night with all three points.

Casemiro led the Reds to victory from close range and Anthony Martial doubled the lead just before half-time. Bruno then won, converted a penalty and then Rashford scored the fourth goal.

Joao Felix found solace belatedly, but the result was already set as Ten Haag achieved one of the key goals he set for himself when he joined the club last summer.
